H-Owl-oween card for a challenge and a swap
If you wonder where I've been this week, I have been holed up in the old craft room making cards for a big swap this weekend. I started the cards last week, but it seems like I just kept running out of everything. I was working away from home, so it's frustrating when you think you brought everything you need, but you run short. I cut paper, stamped and punched all day, and then when I came home I had to do some more prep. Well, I finally finished tonight, except for a few bows left to make, but the ribbon just arrived in my shipment today.
I was thinking ahead to the workshop swap that I am participating in this weekend, and remember last year that most of the projects were holiday oriented, and since I have not really prepared myself with holiday stamps, paper, etc., I knew I had to work with what I have, and I have plenty.
My sweet little Owl Occasions stamp set came to the rescue again. Today my owl has snatched up a witch's hat, grabbed a branch for a broomstick, and took flight over the village. This was a fun card to make, when I made the first one for a sample. When it got down to making 45 of them, it was a lot of work, and maybe I got a little too putsy! I cut the circle after I stamped, and then reattached the end of the broomstick. Was it worth it? It was to me! I wanted stars in the sky, but could not come up with a stamp that would do it justice, so I went with punching 1/4" circles with my hole punch from fabulous glitter paper. I cut the houses freehand (although I made a template to keep me somewhat consistent). Then I got the idea to sponge a little yellow on the paper for the windows, and across the top of the moon, then added grey to the bottom of the moon. Okay, I have to admit it was a whole lot of putsing, but I like the end product, and it's all my own! Hope you like it too.
I don't usually show off swap projects before the swap, but earlier this week I realized that the card I was making fell into the square category, and that was the challenge 65 at CAS-ual Fridays, so I thought I would submit this card. If I spoil the fun for anybody at the swap, I am sorry, but this one time I make an exception ;)

ReplyDeleteOh, that owl is too cute! I love owl stamps but haven't seen that one. And wow, all that work payed off! It's darling and I think that you hand cut the houses fits so well with the feeling!
