Serene solitude

This week I was in need of some serene solitude.  I have been so busy in my craft room for the past couple of weeks preparing samples for our open house.  The open house was a success for us.  We had some wonderful guests, and they enjoyed our displays, our make-n-take projects, and our cupcakes!  But, when it was done, I was ready to crash!!  I headed for our little get-away in the woods of Wisconsin, to relax.  I took a little stamping with me, because I had to make swaps for our demonstrator's meeting on Monday.  I had a hard time deciding what to do, but finally decided to make my Salute to the Owl-ympics card that I posted the other day.  It was a fun card to make, but of course I ran into obstacles, like running out of red paper!  I also got some crocheting done and reading, listening to music and sitting around the campfire.  Just the kind of serene solitude I was in need of.  This was only the second weekend that we have built a fire all summer, because of the extremely hot weather we have been having.  And, with a fire, we had to make s'mores, and our little granddaughter had her eye on us the whole time.  She has started eating solid food this past month, and she now wants everything she sees you eat, so this time she got her first taste of marshmallow.
She really liked that marshmallow.  Am I a bad grandma, or what??
Since you have already seen my card that I made for our card swap, I thought I would show you the card I made for last month's shoebox swap.  We had such a fun time assembling cards that everyone
had prepared for us.  This card used paper from the Comfort Cafe DSP layered with Cajun Craze.  The stamp set is Serene Silhouettes, and the salutation inside and out is from Trust in God.  I just love this stamp set, and this just reminds me of the beautiful serene surroundings we have at our campground in Wisconsin.  We sit in such a pretty clearing in the woods, and there are really no neighbors in clear sight of our yard.  We have neighbors who are seldom around, so we can sit and enjoy the sounds of the birds, and the wind in the trees, the frogs and the chipmunks.  We love it all.

I really had to take a break from the crafting this week to restore the creative energy, but I will have to tell you about our open house and show you all the wonderful projects I made, so stop back again soon.  See you tomorrow.
Have a great day :)
