Going Global Sneak Peek

Yesterday was my 43rd Wedding Anniversary, and it was the perfect occasion to use my new stamp set Going Global.  This is one of the sets that I was able to preorder from the new Occasions Catalog that will be released in January.  As soon as I saw this set I knew I had to have it.  It makes great masculine cards, and that's always what I'm looking for.  I was sold the moment I got my hands on the Big Dipper stamp.  Adorable!  The sentiments are sweet without being goofy, so I know I will use them for those guys in my life.
I embossed the background with the World Traveler EF, and added a few paper accents from the Going Places DSP stack which will take you out of this world with the exciting prints.  I know you will love this as much as I do, and I can't wait to show you more.   So, stop back again real soon.

There's snow place like home!

Aren't these little penguins cute?  I sure think so.  I got a sweet little box like this swapping at On Stage in Milwaukee, and it came from Tracy Sytsma.  We all thought it was so adorable, and I said that I wish I had that stamp set now.  One of the demonstrators I was traveling with offered to loan it to me, so I got busy and stamped a bunch for myself.  I am doing a craft sale this weekend, and I thought that these would be a good seller, because of the reaction that we all had when we saw them.  The stamp set is called Snow Place, and it has Framelits to match it so it cuts out all the adorable accessories.  It's on the retiring list, so don't wait to order it.  You can shop my Online Store here
Come back soon, and see what else I am creating.  It's craft sale season and I am busy like an elf in my workshop.

Stampin' Up! retiring product list and a Christmas card with Peaceful Wreath and Wonderland

Stampin' Up! announced today their retiring product list from the Holiday Occasions catalog.  You can click here to go to the PDF with the list of retiring products which will be available while they last.
Once you have your list ready you can shop my Online Store to place your order.

I thought I'd share with you a card made at one of my Christmas Stamp-a-stack classes made with Peaceful Wreath and Wonderland stamp sets.  Both of these beautiful stamp sets will be retiring, and you would not want to miss out on these.
My card made with Lost Lagoon, and the pinecones and greeting were done with gold.  I used a little Blackberry Bliss to accent the card with some stars.

Hope you like the cards, and it inspires you to combine these beautiful stamps, too.

Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!

I spent the day in my craft room working on swap cards.  I have so many to do this week, and they all seem to have creeped up on me.  This is a card that I made for my swap in October, and I thought I'd share today.  Made with the Happy Scenes stamp set and a lot of fun playing with colors and mediums.  I sponged the background, colored the pumpkins and leaves, and trimmed it with fun lacey curtains and spiderwebs.  I felt like a little schoolgirl creating a work of art in school.  I think Halloween is a time that makes all of us feel like a child, and I hope you had some fun like a kid today, too.  For me, it was carving pumpkins, too.
Hope to share more fun with you soon, so stop back again.

Kids, Carts, Candy, Corn, Sparklers and a Card for the 4th of July

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!  I had an extra long weekend and was able to get some stamping done at the trailer this weekend.  We headed up on Thursday, and I pulled out my stamps and got some creative time in before the family all converged for the weekend.  I had seen a new card technique last week, and I had to give it a try.  It's called Retiform, and Debbie Henderson introduced it to me on her blog last week, and she had a wonderful video here.  I could not wait to try my hand at it.  I made this card for a swap, and normally I would not share a swap card in advance, but I wanted to play along with a couple of challenges this weekend, and I only got a chance to work on this card, so I will share it on a couple sites that all called for RED, WHITE, AND BLUE projects.
My card is not only red, white, and blue, but also a birthday card, so I will share at Seize the Birthday Color Q Challenge #297 had four colors, that I needed for my technique, but I substituted Real Red.  I really was inspired by Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge 215, because it just reminded me of all the fun surrounding 4th of July, and that played a big part in my creation this weekend.  Even though my card isn't patriotic, I had patriotism surrounding me in so many ways.
I just had to share with you some of the fun, and traditions we have for the 4th.  First of all we always spend it at our camper at the DN (Do Nothing) Campground in Wisconsin.  It's only an hours drive from home.  We always say it's an hour from everywhere.  On the 4th of July they have a golf cart parade which we love to watch, and the kids catch candy that they throw to them.  We got the kids all lined up and ready for fun.  Afterwards the kids divided up all the candy,  while we snacked on watermelon and husked the first sweet corn of the season I picked up from a farm stand that morning.  We had the traditional hot dog/brat dinner, ate cupcakes, watched the kids run til they were completely spent, but we lit up a few sparklers before we washed them up and sent them home to bed.  They are still too little to stay awake for the fire works, but promised next year they would be old enough.  Sure wears Grandma out, but I love spending the day with my kids, and look forward to doing it again in a few weeks.
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, too.  Thanks for stopping by to see my card.

Hey Dad it's your day

It's been driving me crazy that I have not had time to get into my
craft room and create.  I had my basement flood 2 weeks ago, and we had to take out all of the boxes and furniture, and sort through it in the garage.  I have been weeding through 35 years of accumulated junk, and tossing or repacking and labeling the stuff I want to keep.  It's wearing me out, and not my idea of fun at all.  We have been dealing with contractors removing all the wet materials, and contractors bidding to put it all back together.  Looks like it will be a long process, and one we are not looking forward to, except I will have a lovely remodeled basement when it is done.  I am hoping ot include a new craft area and possible classroom space.  I have my craft room upstairs, so none of that was affected, but my sewing room is what took the worst damage.  Thank goodness for plastic totes.  My box arrived on Wednesday from Stampin' Up! with new supplies from the new catalog, and all I had time to do was unpack it, and put my name stickers on things before I put them away (which I have not done, because I am having too much fun fondling them and playing around with ideas).  I have got 4 swap cards that need to be created this weekend, and I am heading to the trailer to do some serious stamping.  I have to be sure to pack everything I could possibly want, and then I can hit the road.
I could not resist sharing with you a card that I created a couple weeks ago in anticipation of Father's day.  Since Father's Day and masculine cards is what they are calling for on several challenges, I decided to share a quick post before I head out of town.  I'll share it on the Paper Player's Challenge 248 and Crafty Boots Challenge
I had seen a card similar to this made with little banners flying above a fence, and I decided that having ties cut with the Baby's Firsts framelits was just right for dad (although dad would never wash his ties, unless he was really dumb).  I had to add some weeds along the fence from Serene Silhouettes, because there always seem to be some weeds along the fence (and I'm sure the came from the neighbor's side).  I colors I chose fit the scheme at CAS on Sunday, so I will share with them, too. I got the cute salutations I used from my May Paper Pumpkin kit.
I am heading out of town for a much needed rest, but I will share with you some of the fun things I make when I return next week.  Stop back and see me then.

Choose happiness for this weekend

Choose happiness!  That's how I started out this weekend.  I headed up to our camper in Wisconsin for a weekend of stamping.  It was going to be just my husband and I, no kids, no grandkids, and nothing buy quiet solitude and a basket full of stamping supplies.
Well, it started to rain as I left home, just a sprinkle, but it got heavier as I drove the hour to the campgrounds, and by the time I got up there the campground was like it was flooded over.  I never saw so much standing water.  My husband said it was so noisy from the heavy rain he had to turn off the TV, because he could not hear it.  So, the rain slowed down and stopped shortly after I arrived, and I couldn't wait to get my stamping supplies in and get creative.  I worked all evening on a card, that just was not coming together the way I envisioned, and I finally stopped without completing assembly and said maybe I would feel better about it tomorrow.  Then came the phone call from my son at home saying our basement had flooded.  It evidently rained so heavy the water came in through the foundation.  This has never happened in the 35 years since we built the house.  So, we drove home, spent half the night cleaning up, getting things out of harms way as best we could, and spent half the day trying to get people out to help rescue us.  Once we had things under control, we put our son in charge, and headed back up to our retreat.  We had a few hours to relax before we packed up and came home again to work on the basement in earnest.  I managed to get some stamping done, needing to get 6 cards made for a swap this week, so that's what I have to share today.
I needed some great inspiration after my burnout day, so I turned to my card challenges for help.  Pals Paper Arts  Challenge #253 had a fun layout, and I took my Playful colors from Colour Me! Challenge #73, only I had no Lost Lagoon, so I used Coastal Cabana.  Aren't those fun Playful colors?  I also used a print from Bohemian DSP, giving you a sneak peek at what is to come from the new SU catalog this week.   I think the sentiment "Choose Happiness" is very appropriate for a birthday, so I'll share this at Seize the Birthday Challenge where this week "Anything Goes".   I hope you enjoy my card, and I hope I get some time for stamping more this week, but with the cleanup ahead of us, it's not looking good.  Even though we had so much water in the basement, I have many things to be thankful for.  One, my craft room is upstairs, and my stamps and paper are okay.  LOL!  Second, I believe in storing things in plastic tote bins, and I had so many things that were protected from water damage because of that.  The majority of the water was in my sewing room, that has become a storage room since I quit sewing a few years ago because of eye problems.  So far, there was nothing valuable lost their.  We spent the day taking everything out of the rooms down stairs and taking it to the garage, and we had to rip out all the wet carpeting.  House smells like a wet dog, but we can stand it.  The good news is ...we are in for a basement remodel.  Yeah!   Not :(
You have a great week.
Mary Alice
PS.  I have to share a little bit of the beauty that did surround me this weekend in the woods.  All the spring flowers, the lilies of the valley, the trillium, the ladyslippers that I seldom get to see, because I don't usually come up so early in the spring to see them.  These photos were taken a week ago, before the big rain.
