Amazing Mother

Image
This card I made for my daughter-in-law, Smita for Mother's Day.  When I saw the colors for the Stampin' Celebrations inspiration this month, I just knew this was meant for Smita.  These are the colors that she chose to decorate her wedding.  Smita's family is from India, and they selected beautiful silk table runners in magenta, orange and gold, with beautiful exotic flowers, even on the cake.  It was probably the prettiest wedding I have ever seen, and the beautiful bride dressed in a magenta and gold sari was the best part.  I think my son made a wonderful choice for a wife, and she is an amazing mother of little Kol, too.  I am crazy for that little boy with the black hair and dark eyes, unlike any of the babies that I had with the blue eyes and blond hair.  I think he is precious.  They live in Brooklyn, NY, so we do not get to see them as frequently as the other grandkids, but I must say that 6 times in 18 months i...

Blossoms for Mother

Image
Spring is finally here, and my cards I made the past few days have really reflected it, with all the flowers and bright spring colors.  I have a craft sale coming up next weekend, and I wanted to make some Mothers Day cards.  I came up with this one late last night, and I am really pleased with how nice it turned out.  I used the Mixed Bunch stamp set, with the matching blossom punch, which is so quick and easy.  The paper comes from Berry Blossoms DSP (retired), and then I crimped a piece of Lucky Limeade CS down the side.    I love the mix of textures with the dotted embossed background. The "mother" comes from Amazing Family stamp set. I got the idea for the layout from Fab Friday's Challenge  17, and the idea for crimping came from Little Red Wagon Challenge  #182 to "Crimp My Style" this week.  The Pink Elephant Challenge  196 was to "Lift It", and I got my inspiration from a card made by Yvette Ashe (I was unab...

Amazing Father

This may be a first for me, I used just one color for my card, Midnight Muse.  Does it count if I used Very Vanilla for the card, and Whisper White for the stamped area, because they are my neutrals?  The SUO Challenge 68 was to "stick to one color", and for me that was a challenge.  I do think the simplicity of the Lovely as a Tree stamp set is the simple images, but I always want to elaborate with a colored sky or ground, or something.  I used a new stamp set called Amazing Family for the greeting inside and out.   I really LOVE how this turned out, and I cannot wait to make some more.  I really hope to add another card to the challenge with a one color theme.  Stop back later, and see if I can do it.  It's kind of like a Lay's potato chip, nobody can eat just one.  I don't know if I can stick to one color again.  Mary Alice

Amazingly Fun Card

Image
I had a little time to create a card this afternoon out of some Amazing Family stamps that I have been dying to use.  I did a little experimenting with the beautiful filigree scallops, so that they fit withing the oval, and after playing around with the spacing, I am quite pleased with the results.  It is such a shame that my camera cannot capture the colors and textures to their true potential.  I used a palette from the CAS- Colour and Sketch Challenge #15 , but from the photo you would not believe that the colors are Rich Razzelberry in the printed paper, or Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.  You will just have to take my word for it. How about this one? Can you tell that we had Blueberry Pancakes?  Why do the colors come out so good in this photo?   Little Miss Owl is really enjoying the big girl food now that she has a mouth full of teeth.    You all enjoy your weekend, and hope you find some time for ...
