Happy Mother's Day to all my girls

Image
I was back up at the campgrounds again this weekend, and the weather was lovely.  Lovely enough to spend lots of time outside, playing with the grandkids, visiting with the neighbors, and enjoying a nice bbq - smoked ribs that my daughter made for our Mother's Day dinner.  I spent some time stamping in the evening.  I had to get a birthday card done for my son-in-law before we celebrated his birthday Friday night.  Then I went to work on the cards for my daughters for Mother's Day.  I started with a card challenge to get me inspired, and that's the first card I am sharing today.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #122 , but I flipped it upside down a little.  Then I used the colors from the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #139 to use Black, White, Turquoise and Orange . (Opps, this was supposed to be a birthday card for the challenge.)  I was excited about the color challenge, but the big challenge was to come up with some ...

Happy stamping in the woods

My card with a Trillium in the woods I love, love, love crafting at my trailer.  As I was leaving today, I saw my first Trillium (Wisconsin state flower) in bloom, so I snapped a photo with my card.  We had commented on Friday that the woods are still bare, hardly a bud on the trees, and the plants just popping out their heads.  It got so wonderfully warm with temps in the 80's this weekend, and what happened over the next 3 days was amazing in the woods. Over the winter we bought a new trailer (slightly used 2013 model), and we moved it up to our campgrounds in Wisconsin 2 weeks ago.  We spent that weekend cleaning out our old trailer, and moving into the new.  I compiled a long list of things we would need to organized our new space.  It was almost like moving into a new apartment (not as much work as a home, and space is limited.)  So this weekend I came back with a trunk full of organizational supplies, and got everything put into order....

To Mothers Day......Hooray!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's out there.  I finally got a chance to show you my final Mother's Day card.  This one I made for my daughter-in-law, Melissa.  Sweet Melissa took on the job of mother when she married my son 4 years ago, and became mother to his 4 year old daughter, Emily.  So, although she has been a mother for some years now, this is the first year she is mother to a child of her own, so it's kind of like a first Mother's day, again.  It took a special mom to take on a preschool age child, and I think she was expecting it to be a fun undertaking, and soon realized that a four year old daughter had a special bond with her daddy, and demanded a lot of his attention, and affection.  So, there was a little competition for David's time and attention.  Melissa grew to handle the situation, and became a loving and kind mother to Emily.  But, last year she had a child of her own, Grayson, and she got a real first-hand id...

Amazing Mother

This card I made for my daughter-in-law, Smita for Mother's Day.  When I saw the colors for the Stampin' Celebrations inspiration this month, I just knew this was meant for Smita.  These are the colors that she chose to decorate her wedding.  Smita's family is from India, and they selected beautiful silk table runners in magenta, orange and gold, with beautiful exotic flowers, even on the cake.  It was probably the prettiest wedding I have ever seen, and the beautiful bride dressed in a magenta and gold sari was the best part.  I think my son made a wonderful choice for a wife, and she is an amazing mother of little Kol, too.  I am crazy for that little boy with the black hair and dark eyes, unlike any of the babies that I had with the blue eyes and blond hair.  I think he is precious.  They live in Brooklyn, NY, so we do not get to see them as frequently as the other grandkids, but I must say that 6 times in 18 months i...

A mother, a daughter, a card

I decided that I better get some Mother's Day cards made this week for my daughter, and my daughter-in-laws.  I have one daughter, and I look after her daughter four days a week.  It is such a joy to see her as a mother, and I waited so long for this to happen.  It is delightful to see her daughter grow to have a personality like her mother's, and I see this in all of my grandchildren.  It really surprised me how much they mimic their parent's personalities as they were as children.  I only had one daughter, and I delighted in dressing her up in dresses and ribbons when she was a little girl, but in no time at all she turned into quite a tomboy.  She loved being outside, exploring nature and getting dirty.  She played many sports and was active with Camp Fire Girls from Bluebirds into high school.  She adored being at camp.  Today she has a trailer next door to ours at a campground, and she loves hiking, and hunting, and fishing....
