It's sweet to be back

I recently made this card for a swap that I am participating in, and I could not be more tickled.  I had such a fun time creating this, but decided that coloring is really not my thing anymore.  My hands have gotten so shaky that's it's hard to stay in the lines.  My little granddaughter never criticizes my coloring when I am doing it with her, but I felt a little bad passing off these cards to friends!  I hope they just looked at the delightful, colorful design, and overlooked the poor coloring.  I know I will have a bunch of fun with this new Halloween Hello stamp set, and can't wait to share more projects with all of you, too.  The paper is Witches Brew DSP.  I think I will share this one with the Crafty Boots Challenge where they are looking for Sweet Treats.  The colors are perfect for the Nacho Average Challenge #58 , and the Paper Players Challenge #166 Trick or Treat wants a Halloween card.  Hope they like this one.  Stop back and see what other fun

Halloween Happiness

In my past I used to do a lot of sewing, making clothes for myself, my family, and dĂ©cor for my home.  I sewed products for craft sales for many years, too, and eventually I went to work in an alteration shop. So, I guess you could say I have a professional background, as well as a passion for sewing and all that is used to create things.  Over the years, I started paper crafting with rubber stamps, and then scrapbooks, and creative home projects, and my passion turned from fabric to paper.  I have often said that paper crafting today has replaced fabric crafts of yesteryears.  For years women strolled through a fabric store, to look and be inspired by the fabric, often buying without knowing what they would create with the fabric.  I have the stash to prove that!  Sometimes the pattern or inspiration came first, then the hunt for the perfect fabric, and trim, and buttons, ribbon, or lace came next.  Now, we get the same creative satisfaction using paper for our creative inspira

It's all about the Candy

Image
I have been busy preparing for my Open House tomorrow, making cards and projects with all the new products that I got from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I know it's still August, and I dislike posting Halloween cards already, but I just have to share the cutest card I made.  This new stamp set called Halloween Hello has all these cute little images that I used on these stamps.  I bought it especially to use on candy treats I plan to make, but I just had to put together a card.  I have to admit that I saw a similar card made by Linda here .  I changed mine up a little bit to fit the challenge at CAS-Colours & Sketches Challenge  #39 this week.  I added a cute little banner with the greeting inside the card, too.  The printed stripe paper comes from Witches' Brew DSP.  We have lots of new cards and products to show off Wednesday night, along with some great MakeNTake projects.  Stop by and you are sure to have fun. More info is here .   Sign up for some fall classes while

Stampin' at the Campgrounds

Image
I enjoyed a lovely day of stamping at the campgrounds on Friday.  The weather was a perfect day to sit on the porch and get creative.  We had a smoky little fire going in the yard, and I could sit in my screen porch and watch the birds all around me and the deer passing right through the yard eating the hostas, but the bugs could not get me.  Haha!  I had a box of new stamps and paper to play with, and plenty of inspiration all around me, but I turned to a couple of challenges for inspriration, too.  I had my new stamp set called Truly Grateful, that I wanted to play with first.  The first thing that struck me about this set was the slice of wood.  I truly wanted to play with that.  So, I opened up my supplies and much to my amazement I had forgotten to pack ink pads!!!! Oh, no!  What to do?  I had just four pads in my box, that were still packed from last Wednesday night's class.  I had a box of markers, and that was the extent of my color range.  I stepped up to the chal

You make me happy

Image
We had a great card class tonight, with a couple of new visitors.  This is one of the cards that we made.  I designed this card last weekend while I was cooped up in the camper with the cold weather.  I was able to spend some time being very creative, and I especially like to play around with little stamps and make collages.  I used a bunch of different stamp sets for this card to get all the fun elements I could find.  The little collage pieces came from a new Hostess stamp set called Postage Collection.  I added a greeting from a set I got at convention called Hello, Lovely.  Inside was a happy greeting from Yippee-Skippee! And, in case you noticed the spots in the collage, they came from Gorgeous Grunge. I just could not wait to play with all the stamps I got from convention.  The cute little bicycles came from Birthday Basics DSP.  I added buttons and bows and do-das all over the place.  I had plenty of time to play around crafting this pretty card.  I'll share this one

Loving you is amazing

Image
I have been so busy preparing cards for convention swaps, that I have not had any time to simple stamp and create for fun.  I headed up to the Getaway in the Woods last weekend with some creative energy to spare.  The cold weather with temps in the 60's (down in the 40's overnight) kept me cooped up in the little trailer trying to create at the small table, with some very bad tv to watch.  Not my best creative atmosphere, but I did manage to turn out some nice cards, so time was not totally wasted.   I used the Lovely Romance stamp set and the Venetian Romance DSP for one of my Over the Top card swaps, and I could hardly wait to do some more creating with this beautiful, romantic stamps and paper.  Because I stamped with Pistachio Pudding, it's hard to capture the images with my camera, but it really is very pretty.  I love the sentiments "I like loving you" on the outside, and "I think you are Amazing, I just wanted you to know" on the inside.  Just

Smile, it's your birthday

Image
I made about 150 swap cards for convention, and on the last day before I left, I made this card to swap.  It was the day before I was leaving, and I put my granddaughter down for a nap.  I had sewing and packing to do, but I just wanted to make one more card to swap.  I had mistakenly cut paper to short for the insert on a full card I was making for a swap, so I had a stack of short sheets.  I put them to good use for this card front.  I had seen the idea for this card, done with a circular stamp design, and I thought it would be fun made with my new Simply Stars stamp set.  It was stamped in Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar.  The greetings came from Happy Day and Remembering Your Birthday.  It was fast, simple, and a big hit with the swappers at convention.  It was the first to go in my general swaps.  This is one of the cards we will be making at our Simple Card Class tomorrow night, and if you let me know today that you are coming, I will make room for you.

Kind & Cozy Swap

Image
I have had a wonderful time at convention but I have been running on exhaust fumes.  I had a wonderful time wandering, observing and listening.  I have to admit that the highlight for me was the swapping.  I love meeting new people, and I love seeing what they made. Something's are very creative, and I hope that is what they said about mine. I know that is subject to opinion.  This is I made this card for an organized swap for new stamp sets.  I used the Kind & Cozy stamp set, a and this was a lot of work, but worth it. First I used the gingham roller to add Gumball Green checks to the card front.  Then I stamped the green gingham ring which I punched  with the 2 1\2 punch.  I embossed the card front, excluding the checked portion.  Next I layered that circle on the card front and cut the inside circle using circle framelits.  I layered a window sheet stamped with white Stazon ink to the center of the ring.  I stamped flowers on either side of the ring to which I added the

Stampin Up Convention

We arrived in Salt Lake City today for Stampin Up! Convention, and I am too excited. This is my first convention and and I am here with some fun friends and excited to meet many more.  We are in our hotel this evening working on finishing swap project.  Can you believe they are not done? I am a great worker but a better procrastinator. I have worked on scrapbook pages and cards for several organized swaps that I will share with you during convention but I don't want to spoil the surprise for those who will receive them. Sorry for neglecting you, but I don't have any excuse except for working on these secret projects.  More tomorrow. Mary Alice

Baroque Beauty

Image
I  I love the way this card turned out, and everyone's ooo's and aaah's when they see it.  It really is a beauty.  I think I will have some fun with these stamps.  I bought them for scrapbook pages, but I love the cards, too.  The big image is a stamp called Beautiful Baroque and the sentiments and images inside came from Happy Day.  Makes a lovely card for a wedding or anniversary done in the Soft Slate colors, and I love the Chevron Striped Ribbon and the rhinestone accents.  I could have blinged this out a bunch more, but the card has plenty of shine.  Hope it us enough for the Paper Players Challenge 1 56 to "Bring on the Bling", and the CAS-ual Friday Challenge 106 is "Over the Edge", and the ribbon over the edge of the card satisfies that challenge.  Hope you like the card, and stop back again soon. And, HI to all the fun new friends we made at Marketfest in White Bear Lake last night.  It was a gorgeous evening, and it was good to see friend
