Sweet birthday card

Image
We made this card at our class last week, and everyone enjoyed it so much, and it was fast and easy to make, too.  I used the Betsy's Blossom stamp set, which gives such nice bold, clean images, so it turns out great all the time.  Love this set, and glad it's sticking around in the new catalog.  I had seen this card done by Wendy Weixler here , but she had done it in Pool Party where I substituted Calypso Coral, and I love them both, along with Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade.  All the ladies in the class loved the color choice, too.  I think the honeycomb embossing folder adds just another element of summer to this card, and it would be perfect for a summer birthday.   When I saw the inspirational card at the Muse Challenge #19 this week, I thought it reminded me of the card I just made, so I am entering it in their challenge competition, along with the layout  that I got at Hand Stamped Sentiments  #160.  Loved m...

Spring Fling Banner

Image
Today is our big Spring Fling event, and this is a project that we will be making there today.  My SU upline, Kay Kalthoff, asked me if I could make a banner for the Spring Fling that was something like the one that Shelli Gardner made at Leadership Conference.  I went looking for photos online, and found them, so that I could see the original.  Kay loaned me some of the stamps that she had, and I used some things that I had, too, and I came up with this creation.  I passed it along to Kay, and she tweaked it so that it would be a do-able creation for our event today. So, this is her version that we will be making.  We used lots of fun products and stamps and techniques, and I hope that everyone enjoys making one for themselves.  You can hang it where you enjoy working on your crafts, or in your office, or wherever you choose to be creative in your life.  One of the demonstrators in our group suggested that the banner pieces would make great e...

Bright Betsy's Blossoms

Image
I really wish that spring would arrive here in Minnesota.  We have rain, mixed with snow, and Tornado warnings today.  Is that crazy or what?  I just keep looking out the window, and wondering if my lilacs will bloom this year.  Last year we got a freeze just as they were blossoming, and all the buds and blossoms died on all the trees.  I have seen ice on the branches so many times this week, I just don't know if the buds will survive again this year.  I always have looked forward to the lilacs blooming for my birthday in mid-May.  Oh, well, I least I have plenty of blossoms in my stamp room.  I have been so busy making cards this week for my display board.  We are having a big event this weekend, our Spring Fling, with our upline, Kay Kalthoff, and the demonstrators in our group, along with their customers.  This is the first big stamp camp we have had, and we will have 47 people in attendance.  We have card making and scrapb...

Spring blossoms

Image
I was so excited to see the sun today, melting away some of the snow.  Actually, it's most of the snow.  I kept worrying about all those cold little robins outside in my yard.  So, in celebration, I made a card for the robins.  I used the color inspiration from Stampin' Celebration !m and the layout from Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge #247 .  I used Betsy's Blossoms stamp set, and a greeting from Friendly Phrases.  It was a quick and easy card, and I hope you all like it.    Mary Alice

Betsy's Birdie for a Birthday

Image
I made this card recently for a masculine birthday card.  I wanted to try something monochromatic, which is just not my usual style.  I turned out really cute, but photographed really badly, so I was not going to show it off.  Today I thought about trying to remake it to my liking, or to try to rephotograph, but decided that I like things the way there were, and you would all get the idea.  I used the bird from Betsy's Blossom stamp set, and the salutations are from Bring on the Cake, with a little cake inside from Happy You.  The paper is Summer Smooches print with Not Quite Navy and Island Indigo.  A little birdie told me that there is a birthday boy who will need a card on Easter :)  Hope they like the birdie card over at Papercraft Star Challenge #137  this week. Come back again tomorrow, 'cause I am heading back to the craft room. Mary Alice
