Mixed drinks for my open house

Tomorrow is our New Catalog Open House, and I have been busy creating cards and samples using our new products.  I am crazy about the Mixed Drinks stamp set.  It's like a having an adult coloring book and you get to choose your colors to fill it it, and add all the little embellishments to make the drinks fun.  I try to imagine what kind of drink I am putting in each glass, and what my friends would be drinking at my party.  However, when it gets late at night, and I am trying to come up with inspiration for another card, I will turn to a couple challenge blogs to give my brain a poke.  Stampin' Celebration Challenge 128 just looked like it was screaming "party" to me.  The SU-Only Challenge #150 was looking for "Summer Celebrations", and I was up for that too.  I found the perfect summery papers in the Affectionately Yours DSP with some Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush papers.  And as I stamped my card I imagined making sweet lemonade in a mason

Sunshine Sayings and Watercolor Words for the Grad

I had so much fun playing with a challenge yesterday, I went looking for more inspiration and found it at Pals Paper Arts Challenge 304 .  I did take the liberty of flipping the sketch on it's side.  I started with the Blooms & Bliss DSP for my background and a star, then cut the salutation with the Sunshine Wishes framelits and added a little banner with the graduate stamp from Sunshine Sayings.  Adding the text made it eligible for the challenge #110 at Inkspirational  to use TEXT.  I carried through with the star theme using Watercolor Words to stamp the background.  I added a few of the new In Color Enamel Shapes stars for some sparkle and texture, but the photo doesn't do them justice.  They are so cute!   I enjoyed making this one so much, I think I'll go back and make a masculine one, too.   Mary Alice

Sunshine Sayings for a challenge

I haven't played along with a challenge in forever.  I am busy making card samples for my Stampin' Up! New Catalog Open House, and I needed some inspiration.  I came across the layout at Freshly Made Sketches #290 , and I knew it gave the opportunity to play with some new DSP and some stamps.  I chose the Sunshine Sayings stamp set with coordinating Sunshine Wishes framelits and the beautiful Blooms and Bliss DSP.  I embossed the background layer with the new Petal Burst embossing folder.  It was fun to play along with the challenge and play with new products.  Hope you like it, too. #imbringingbirthdaysback Stamp A Stack

Stamp A Stack Saturday, May 21 9:00-2:00 This event will be held at 101 Willowpond Trail, Lino Lakes #imbringingbirthdaysback is a movement started by Shannon West from Stampin' Up!'s corporate office. In January she was contemplating how she had neglected to send out her Christmas cards. She had noticed that many of her friends had posted Christmas cards on Facebook, just like they did with birthday cards. A handwritten card arriving in your mailbox was becoming obsolete. She resolved to change this situation. On Facebook she posted that she was going to send actual birthday cards to any of her friends that wanted one. Just tell her your birthday, and address and she'd send you a card this year. In a matter of 3 days, she had over 1300 people respond! A movement was begun! She told the people at Stampin' Up! about her story after she had hand carved herself a stamp #imbringingbirthdaysback. They loved it, created a stamp for sale, and the m

Valentines for my grandkids

This first card I made for my 4 year old granddaughter, Olivia.  I knew she'd enjoy the texture of the honeycomb accent.  Stampset used was Honeycomb Happiness from SaleABration.  This second card was made for 2 year old Maya, who is just so sweet and cuddly that the Bear Hugs card was just right for her.  She is so sweet and full of fun and energy.  My oldest granddaughter, Emily, age 11 is my first crafter buddy.  When she was 5 and moved away from my house where she'd been living for 3 years, I made her bedroom into my craft room.  When she came and saw all the craft supplies set up, she was so excited.  When her parents came to pick her up that day, she said "You have to come and see the craft room that grandma made for us!"  I still have the candy jar she made for me the next week while I was at work and she was here with grandpa.  It's covered with paper, flowers, ribbon and jewels, lots of jewels.  So her card had to be a little blinged
