Sweet birthday card

Image
We made this card at our class last week, and everyone enjoyed it so much, and it was fast and easy to make, too.  I used the Betsy's Blossom stamp set, which gives such nice bold, clean images, so it turns out great all the time.  Love this set, and glad it's sticking around in the new catalog.  I had seen this card done by Wendy Weixler here , but she had done it in Pool Party where I substituted Calypso Coral, and I love them both, along with Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade.  All the ladies in the class loved the color choice, too.  I think the honeycomb embossing folder adds just another element of summer to this card, and it would be perfect for a summer birthday.   When I saw the inspirational card at the Muse Challenge #19 this week, I thought it reminded me of the card I just made, so I am entering it in their challenge competition, along with the layout  that I got at Hand Stamped Sentiments  #160.  Loved m...

For the Mr and Mrs

I did not want to put off making a wedding card at the last minute this week, which is usually my nature.  The wedding that I am going to for my niece, Elizabeth, and her handsome, Patrick is a black and white affair, with a touch of red.  They asked all the guest to come in black and white attire, and I know that the bride will be wearing red shoes, and a red flower in her hair, and I think the groom will have a red tie, otherwise everything will be black and white.  I started out to make a black and white card, but it turned into a red and white card with a touch of black.  I know Liz will like that. It's hard to come up with black and white paper in my stash, because I am all about the colors.  In fact, I had to dive back into Candlelight Christmas to find some red and white for this card.  I used hearts from More Amore, and the stamps are from Sweet Essentials, Petite Pairs, and Tiny Tags.  It doesn't have a lot of stamping, but ...

Another quick challenge

Another quick challenge card today, but it was something I was drawn to, and could not miss the opportunity to do this color combo challenge #140 at Stampin' Royalty to use Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Baha Breeze.  I have been using up retired paper making cards and projects for my craft sale, and I was not surprised at how many papers I have with this color combo.  For this card I used Elegant Soiree DSP (retired).  It is such beautiful paper, and I find it almost relaxing just to look at the paper patterns. I decided to make sympathy cards with this paper today, and the layout for challenge #82 at Try Stampin' On Tuesday had a simple layout, that allowed me to use a few of the scraps I had saved.  I try to keep sympathy cards simple, and always room inside for a personal message. I just added a few of the long paper flags inside with a little stamped message It was a fun card to make, and I have another  project in the works with this paper, be...

Stippled Blossoms Challenge Card, I mean Really a Challenge!

Image
I have been working on cards for an upcoming craft sale, and today I was making some wedding cards.  I was looking for something other than the white on white variety of wedding cards.  My nephew recently married at Como Park Conservatory, and he wore shorts and a white shirt, and she was in a white summer dress with a bright colored bouquet.  A fancy schmancy wedding card would just not fit the bill for that wedding.  I decided to make a bright floral card, and I was inspired by the color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments to use Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery and Not Quite Navy, and this is the card I made.  I also chose the layout from another challenge at  Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge at Techno Stamper .    This is the first time I pulled out my new stamp set Stippled Blossoms, and I found it a bit of a challenge.  I have a hard time with 2 step stamping, and I am always tempted to pull out the o...
