Birthday card for a blog-iversary

I have to give with a big shout-out to Unscripted Sketches Challenge #206 Blog, because it's their 4th Blog-iversary, and they had a very unusual challenge this week.  They wanted birthday cards, and to use the number 4 on the card.  I knew first of all that I had the cute little birthday salutation from Bring on the Cake stamp set with all these numbers in a cluster, and I love coloring in the number for the age of the birthday boy or girl.  I decided that I wanted to use the idea from a card I cased with the stack of four elephants, bringing in a group of four also. This cute little elephant is from a stamp set called Patterned Occasions from this spring's SaleAbration sets.  All the little elephants remind me of an old song called Baby Elephant Walk (click to see it here), which was an instrumental by Henry Mancini, and it was from the score for a movie called Hatari, starring John Wayne. (We had the soundtrack album with the music, which we enjoyed so much.)   It was about couple who were living on an animal preserve in Africa, and the baby elephant was a big character in the movie.  I remember going to see it at the Cooper Theatre in Minneapolis because you could see it on a special big screen with special sound equipment, I think they called it CinemaScope.  It was like the predecessor to and Imax theatre, but was back in the early 60's.  You just never forget such a special movie experience.  So, the reason I am telling you about this is because that is the challenge at Less is More this week, to do a one layer card with a movie theme.  So, here is my Hatari story.

I know some this would be perfect for a four year old's birthday. Inside I added "wishing you a wonderful day", and I wish the same to all of you.  Enjoy!

  3. I adore your sweet stacked elephants - such a visually appealing design! Beautifully stamped with vibrant, sharp images. I always love to see cards that have something special on the inside as well, makes for a nice surprise when opened. I use that same HB stamp over and over for exactly the same reason. I find that it is suitable for any age, guy or gal card!

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful card with us at Unscripted Sketches and for taking part in our Blog-iversary celebrations. I am off to google the Hatari movie cuz I'm sure I remember it and the song....and of course, who could everyforget John Wayne?

Cha-ching on the bonus entries with the "4's". Well deserved!

    1. Glad you like the card so much. I really have to get my hands on the Hatari movie one of these days. When I went back to look for the song on YouTube to make a connection I showed it to my little granddaughter who was delighted by the baby elephants. Now I want to see it all.
