Fall color challenge

It was time to get working on some fall cards today, and I needed a little motivation.  Nothing better than a challenge or two to get me started.  Today I went to Color Throwdown Challenge 210 for some color, and Stampin' Royalty Sketch Challenge #142 for a layout.  Color and layout chosen, and I dug deep to find some paper in my stash with colors I could use.  Went into the old retired paper and a favorite fall stamp set, Day of Gratitude, and I was ready to go.  I also loved the idea of cutting the edge using my Label Framelits for my Big Shot.  It gave it such a creative flare.  I know I will do that again instead of a straight cut.  I felt it was a nice alternative to a ribbon over the divided paper.
I always love playing with this beautiful fall medallion.  Whether you stamp it all one color, or do some multi colors, like I did, it always looks impressive.  The Bermuda Bay and Certainly Celery would not have been my first choice for fall colors, but this really cut a contemporary edge.  It was proving to be a bit of a challenge for me to color with markers today, so I actually stamped the image in the three different colors, and then cut layers to make the medallion.  Simple, yes! Easy, maybe!  It takes a little patience to cut all the tiny leaves and curves, but I enjoy doing that.  (Guess it dates back to cutting paper dolls.  I remember making my own paper dolls out of the Montgomery Wards catalogue.  And the Betsy McCall paper doll that came in each month's issue of McCall's magazine.  Had to wait til mom was done reading it, and hope one of my three sisters wouldn't beat me to it.  That really dates me.)
One down, and more fall to come.  Stop back again and see what I make with the rest of those medallions I made.
