Feeling creative with Connie and Mary

Another inspiration from a challenge at Create with Connie and Mary today.  This card was another one I made for my friend, and I used a print paper from Color Me Autumn DSP that I was saving just to go with the Truly Grateful stamps.  I loved playing with the Crumb Cake base for each of my cards, to give it the little autumn touch of brown.  I grabbed my circle framelits to cut a circle for my card, and decided that the one size was too much coverage for the card as it would have gone from edge to edge, so I grabbed the next size down to use instead.  As I assembled my card I decided that this size was a little too small, and wish I had something in between these sizes.  Well, as I typed this today I thought "wait a minute!"  As I held the two sized circles together I remember thinking that there was a significant size difference between the two circles, and much too big a border to use it for backing the printed circle, so I hand cut the brown circle to back the print one. In the light of day (as I was stamping late into the night), I realized that I was missing a circle framelit, the one that was sized between the two I looked at last night.  Went back to the drawer and looked, and there in the pile of framelits waiting to be filed back into sets was the circle size I was looking for!!  That's what I get for piling up instead of putting away.  Well, too late now, I have the card finished already, and I like the way it turned out just fine.  Hope they like it over at the Sketch challenge #385 with Create with Connie and Mary.  I hope you and my friend enjoy it too.  Come back again soon.

  2. What a wonderful fall card! We have oak trees in our yard and we get lots of acorns. I love them on cards...not so much all over my driveway! Love the little burlap ribbon accent. Thanks for playing the Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge this week!

  3. Wow. Great job hand cutting the circle! And I am glad you found the missing circle frame lit. I find that I tend to let things pile up when the creativity is flowing and I don't want to stop to put away! Your card is lovely. It is a nice combination of stamping at designer paper. Thanks for joining us this week at Create with Connie and Mary.

    1. I know I keep telling myself that if I put things away right away I would not have to clean up my workspace the next time I come to create. Nothing like the thought of cleaning first to kill the creativity buzz. I'm getting better. Just added racks for punches and stamp pads right on my worktable to keep the clutter from piling up, and it's working. You'd think after all these years I would have this down to a science, but it's more of an evolution.
