Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day!

MMMIIIINNNNNesota where the wind is blowing through your hair! And the air is sweet...........
Okay, I don't remember the rest of the lyrics.  (Thank God.)
I promised you something corny today, and here it is.  Remember I was telling about creating things with the Perfectly Preserved stamps and Framelits, and the Orchard Harvest Paper.  This was another one of my brainstorms.  I had this idea to make a scarecrow out of the Framelits.  I cut his shirt from the jar, then the arms from the corn, and stamped the corn hand.  His head is the fabric lid for the jar cut from Crumb Cake, and tied with hemp twine.  The hat was made from the apple as the crown and a small oval punched the brim.    I cut a flower for the brim and added a face, and my scarecrow came to life.  (I am a big Wizard of Oz fan, so I have a vivid imagination.)  It was my vivid imagination that made me come up with the idea.  My daughter and girlfriend were stamping with me up at the trailer, when I came up with the idea.  I sketched it out on paper and wowed them with my design.  They could not believe I would come up with this idea using the Framelits, which I had in my hands for the first day.  I think outside the box, I guess.
Then it was time to make corn.  I stamped and punched a whole lot of corn for this card.  It took a long time experimenting to get it done efficiently.  I started out coloring the corn, but that took too long.  I stamped with one color, wiped away the one color and stamped the next, and that seemed to work well.  I got pretty good at stamping the corn kernels with Daffodil Yellow, and then the husks with Bubblegum Green.  I stamped on the edge of the pad for the left side of the husk, and then the right, and then I lightly stamped the bottom, so as not to cause lines.  That was a problem easily corrected using a blender pen for touch up of any overlapping lines.  I loved lining up my rows of corn on an accordion folded easel card.  And, I did add a little triangle easel to support the card from behind.  That scarecrow is a little heavy guy.    I really hope you like this card, and I'm so glad I could finally share it.  This is one of them I made for Kay K. and she gave me permission to show it to you, too.

Now, you know how much I love challenges, and this week I came across a new one, and it's real sweet.  I just did not get around to making a card for last weeks challenge, and this morning I was so excited because I thought the card I am about to post just meets the cue to use BRIGHT COLORS ONLY.  Well, does this just fit the bill?  I thought so, and hope they enjoy it to at Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge #156, and thank God for his bountiful crops.
I have to tell you this one makes me hungry for a piece of corn on the cob, which I cannot eat on my no carb diet.  My doctor told me there will be more corn on the cob again next year, and I can have a piece then.  I'm just glad i got to eat a few before I started the diet a couple weeks ago.  Enjoy it while you can.   Stop back again real soon.

  4. Mary Alice, this card is absolutely amazing. Love, Love, Love it! I was so disappointed when SU retired this set! But I still have mine, I will have to give this a try. I am from MN, but moved to NM when my 46 year old daughter was 18 months old! You are definitely creatively blessed! So glad you were able to share it via Dawn. I am going to start following you, I like what I see. Isn't it amazing how different everyone makes a card using the same basic elements!
